Today, let’s take a look at seven thingsyou may not have known about the YouTube prankster and commentator Calvin Vail – otherwise morepopularly known as LeafyIsHere.

Number seven – he’s young, rural and hasa dark background.

Born on August 18, 1995, Leafy is an Americanresiding in Layton, Utah.

With a primary focus on commentary, games,reaction videos and instigation, he first turned to YouTube in 2011 at the young ageof just 16 as a way to cope with his depression.

Vail’s home life was full of drug use andabuse – with his father even attempting suicide.

Number six – he hasn’t always been LeafyIsHere.

Although his videos are heavy on Counter-StrikeGlobal Offensive now – Vail’s original content actually mostly revolved around Minecraftwhen he was still just a fledging viral “nobody”.

His channel was originally titled “LeafyGaming”- however, as the owner of a ParaPVP Minecraft server – Leafy ended up angering another user.

Number five – he’s super popular.

With almost four hundred videos, over fourmillion subscribers and three quarters of a billion views – Vail has steadily increasedhis statistics since going live in 2011 – with especially notable spikes in viewership, subscriptions,likes and comments coming in just the last couple of years.

He often appears highly on dozens of different“most popular” lists – meaning YOU may not like him, but a HELL of a lot of folksdo.

Number four – he’s a man of many names.

It’s not unusual to have an alias – butit’s definitely crazy when you have THIS many.

Aside from his birth name and usual monikersof “Leafy” or “LeafyIsHere” – he’s been known to answer to a multitude of othercharming pet names like “Reptillian”, “LeafyIsBeefy”, “Cyber Bully”, “Daddy”,“Master”, “LeafyIsQueer”,“MemeLord”, “The Professional Positive Viber”, “ReptillianGuy” and “LeafyIsDrugs”.

Number three – he shares his music.

After beginning to reach a crescendo in popularity,it is believed Vail decided to open another YouTube channel called "LeafyRadio" – thistime dedicated to archiving all of the royalty free and non-copyrighted music featured inthe videos uploaded to his usual channel.

With upwards of an additional 75,000 subscribersand over five million views on this music-only outlet alone, it bolsters his numbers evenfurther – although his full involvement in the channel is unclear, It shows his acuteviral prowess and digital foresight.

Number two – he found his niche.

As we mentioned, Leafy’s original specialtywas Minecraft videos – but following his server takedown, he expanded not only to CS:GO butto commentary and reaction videos as well.

First featuring his takes on subjects likeDDOS-ing – he quickly moved into darker territory, detailing his “many” experiences withdrugs, leading to huge views and more content.

Number one – he’s been a victim more thanonce.

That server takedown isn’t the first timeVail has been a target.

Although the first time was in direct retaliationto something he himself did, in June of 2016 – he was subject to a channel-wide defacementby the notorious underground group, PoodleCorp.

Shortly after celebrating his three millionthsubscriber, every single uploaded video of his was named to “hacked by twitter.

Com/poodlecorp”.

Although his content was eventually restored,it served as a grim reminder that just because you’re famous DOESN’T mean you’re safe.
