Memory Palace Question | How to Memorize With Memory Palace
Hey, guys, Ron White here, two-time USA MemoryChampion.
I'm going to answer a question today about the Mind Palace.
I have this group righthere on Facebook.
I don't know if you can see this.
Memorize — it's a group that Irun on Facebook where people ask me memory questions.

One of the most common questions I get is, what happens if I run out of pieces offurniture? Can I continue to reuse the furniture over and over again? And what they're referringto is the Mind Palace, the Memory Palace.

But, here's the question: Ron, I only livein a one-bedroom house.
Or Ron, I only have 20 pieces of furniture in my house.
Or whathappens when I use all 50 pieces of furniture in my house, then what am I going to do? Well,use your creativity.
I have in my low sides [sounds like] — what's another name for it– in my Memory Palace, I have about 1,300 files.
Do I have 1,300 files, locations, inmy home? Not at all.
I have about — where I live right now, I have 5, 10, 15, 20, 25,30, 35, 40 — 40 files in my current home.
But what do I do? As soon as I used up allof the pieces of furniture in my home, then I walk out the door and I pick five filesin the hall.
Then, I go down the elevator and I pick five files in the lobby of my condo.
And, then, I walk down the street and I'm picking locations on the street — that stopsign, that trashcan, that sign.
Then, I walk into a restaurant, and I walked around thatrestaurant and picked 20 spots.
Then, I walked out of that restaurant, picked spots alongthe street.
Then, I walked into another restaurant and I picked 10 or 15 spots in that restaurant.
Then, I walked into a hotel and I picked 40 pieces of furniture in that hotel.
And then,I numbered pieces of furniture in my mom's house, my friend's house, my favorite restaurant,the book store, school.
The office where I'm at right here, I've got locations numbered.
So, when people always ask me, Ron, what doI do if I only live in a one-bedroom house? Or what do I do if I run out of pieces offurniture in my house? Well, walk outside your house and start numbering stuff alongthe walk.
The stadium where the Texas Rangers play in Arlington, Texas, the baseball stadium,I got 30 locations numbered there.
Then, what I did was, is I went back and I thought ofall the previous places I've lived in the past ten years and I mapped out all those.
And, when I say mapped out all those, since there was 1,300 of them, I did draw them out.
In other words, some of them, I drew a map of the layout.
Others, I just numbered 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
And others of them, I took my camera — like the hotel,I took my camera and I walked around.
I took pictures of that chair, that couch, that picture,those stairs, and then I put them in a PowerPoint presentation.
Whenever I made a Mind Palaceout of a street in downtown Fort Worth, I took pictures as I walked through downtownFort Worth.
And then, I've got this PowerPoint with like 800 pictures on it.
It's a routethat I walked in a way that made sense, and then I just click, click, click, and I reviewedthat PowerPoint over, and over, and over, and over again until I had memorized thatroute and all the stops, and I had memorized that Mind Palace.
So, a Mind Palace doesn't have to be inside.
It can be outside.
It could be a park.
It could be a sports stadium.
I hope this answersyour question.
It does not matter if you just live in a one-bedroom house.
You can use anybuilding or location — your school, your office, your favorite restaurant, a sportsstadium, your friend's house, your mom's house.
And a couple of ways that I touched on inthis video on how to do that, get a piece of paper and draw a map of it, like a blueprint,and write it out or just number 1 through 20.
Or, do what I did.
If you have hundredsand hundreds of them, go on a walk, take a picture, then put those pictures in a PowerPoint,and just click the next slide until you have that route or that Mind Palace memorized.
I do have a video on, "Is It Okay to Re-UseYour Furniture?" and absolutely 100% positively, it is.
You do want to re-use your furnitureover and over again.
If the material, however, is really similar — for example, if you wantto memorize the lineup for the Texas Rangers from 2016 and you put them all in your house,and then you want to memorize the lineup from 2015, well there's a lot of same players.
There's a lot of similar crossover there.
You're probably going to want to use a differentset of files because you're going to confuse the data.
So, if the lists are similar, usea different set of files.

In other words, it describes, are you able to re-use your files over andover again? So, this is my memory training question, mymemory training answer.
