I believe this video will give you a betterunderstanding of how these phrases are used.
And the visual examples I use here are goingto help you to memorize it more deeply! I guess many of them are quite funny.
Let’s start! And # 1 Phrase today – Sooner or laterIt’s used to say that you do not know exactly when something will happen, but you are surethat it will happen Some examples:Neo, sooner or later you’re to realize, just as I did, that there is a differencebetween knowing the path, and walking the path.
Everyone in your life will hurt you sooner or later… It’s for you to decide whichis more important – The Pain or The person.
Sooner or later, everyone stops smoking! Just kiddingThat’s another way to say, “It was a joke”.
Let me give couple examples:I’ve learned to use meditation and relaxation to handle stress… Just kidding, I am onmy third glass of wine! Out of all the lies I’ve told, “Just kidding!”is my favorite! Saying “Just kidding!” is a way to tellthe truth without getting punched in the face.
It is also often used by someone as a wayto soften a direct insult by saying it was just a jokeLook at this short dialogue: Reggie: "Bob, you're such an asshole!" Bob: "What?" Reggie:"Just kidding!" Bob: "Oh, ok.
" Bob now doesn't feel he's been insulted, because he was toldthat it was a joke, but Reggie still means what he said.
Even ifIt is used to emphasize that a particular situation wouldn’t change what you’vejust said And a few pictures with examples:Speak the truth even if your voice shakes! Nobody hurries to heaven even if his lifereminds hell.
Even if you fall on your face, you are stillmoving forward.
Even thoughThe other way to say “although”.
Say this when you show two opposite ideasExamples: Friendship is …getting into her car eventhough her driving makes you fear for your life.
Still loving kids movies even though you are not kid anymore.
Even though we don’t talk a lot anymore, I still think about you.
As long asIt’s used when you are talking about something that must happen before something else canhappen A few examples will make this explanationmore clear: It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as longas you don’t stop.
Everything is funny as long as it’s happeningto somebody else.
As long as everything is exactly the way Iwant, I am totally flexible.
Can't standIt means to hate someone or something Let’s take a look at the examples:I can’t stand the rain.
I love mankind.
It’s people I can’t stand!And the English saying I really like – If you can’t stand the heat, get out of thekitchen No wayThis combination of words you can often meet just going one after another as in the sentence“There is no way out” or something like that.
But here we talk about the emotional exclamation of a great surprise (which is similar to “That’snot possible!” or “You gotta be kidding!”).
The pictures will tell you more:No way!!! I know! No way! I swear! As soon as you start walkingon two legs your quiet life is over.
All you do is go to school and work all day.
Why doyou think I still walk on four legs, boy? There is no way I was born to just pay billsand die! And couple examples of this phrase with themeaning “certainly not” or “never”: After looking at the numbers, there is noway we can afford a cat.
"Would you invite him to a party?" "No way!" Break one’s heartIt means to make someone very unhappy, to hurt someone deeplySome examples: It’s amazing how someone can break yourheart but you still love them with all the little pieces.
You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens.
A tongue has no bones but it is strong enough to break your heart.
Be careful with yourwords.
Would ratherIt just means – to prefer And some examples:I would rather have a real enemy then a fake friend.
Most men would rather deny a hard truth then face it.
I’d rather look back at my life and say “I can’t believe I did that” insteadof saying “I wish I did that”.
Take one’s breath awayIf something takes your breath away, you surprise and admire because it is so beautiful or exciting.
And the breathtaking examples: Life is not measured by the number of breathswe take, but by the moments that take our breaths away.
I’ve never seen a moon in the sky that, if it didn’t take my breath away, at leastmisplaced it for a moment.
And the very funny one, for the last bit – MyLove, you take my breath away! What have you stepped in, to smell this way?! And the final phrase today is “Keep in touch”or “Stay in touch” It means to maintain communications with someoneCouple examples: Don’t ignore the effort of a person whotries to keep in touch.
It’s not all the time someone cares.
Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick.
Your friends will.
