Top 10 Beauty Products of 2016 | soothingsista
(slow rhythmic music) – Hey everyone.
It's your girl Stephanie.
Today I have my top tenbeauty products of 2016.
This was a year of using, mostly the same products every single day.
I would say eight out often in these products, I have bought multiples of.
For sure.
Some of them, many multiples of this year and I'll talk about that.
If you haven't already, please subscribe below.

Alright we're gonna startoff with base products and move our way out.
Oh my God.
Mochi decided to join us on the couch.
That's too cute.
I hope she stays therefor the rest of the video.
Okay.
The primer that I've used all year long, is this Make Up ForEver Mattifying Primer.
I apply a teeny bit of thisright before my foundation and I have multiple products in this list that are for oily people that really want to allcombine them together.
It really helps you not become slick with oil throughout theday but I really have seen that when i don't use this product, I become oily much quicker.
This product lasts for so long.
This is only my second containerof this and I have used it, I think, more than a year.
Like almost every single day, so its definitely a productthat is worth the cost.
Moving into my foundation, we have the Estee Lauder Double WearStay-in-Place Makeup in 2W2 Rattan.
I first started using this foundation because I really wanted touse a full covered foundation for some photos and eventsand if you pack this on, it is super, super full coverage but then i started realizingif I thinned it out, it was actually really nicefoundation for every day and I mean really thin.
I use a teeny tiny amount.
And this is where the thirdbeauty product comes in.
And this is my BeautyBlender.
I don't know what I did before this thing.
I use my BeautyBlender every single day.
So like I said, I will takethe Estee Lauder foundation.
A very, very small amount.
I just pour it on the back of my hand.
And then I dot it around my face.
And go in with my BeautyBlender,my damp BeautyBlender.
So obviously it thins it outbecause it's a little wet.
And honestly you can't evenreally see that much coverage when I do this but I found that whenI put a very thin veil of this foundation on my face everyday, again it locks in you know, all of the oil and my makeup just tends to last really long throughout the day when I use this product.
So yeah I think that a lot of people think that this is only for super high coverage but you can really easilythin it out as well and yeah I really love it.
I continued to use myBeautyBlender with the next item which is my Nars CreamyConcealer in Medium 1 Custard.
I've definitely gonethrough a few of these.
With this concealer, I concealpretty much everything.
I don't have a separate concealer for eyes and the rest of the face.
So I go in under theeyes, little triangle.
And I'll go down thebridge of my nose a bit and underneath my nose whereI can get some redness.
And I'll do my chin or do any spots.
On light days I'll also use this without the Estee Lauderfoundation which is perfectly fine if I'm just doing something really quick.
But I will always usethe BeautyBlender just to blend it all in andit works so beautifully.
Both my concealer and myfoundation have yellow undertones.
They don't oxidize on me at all.
I don't know why, but alot of face products tend to turn really pink on me super fast even if it looks like theyhave yellow undertones, it'll turn pink.
So I never really know why that is, but these are true to colorand I'm sticking with them.
I think the make up application method that really changed the gamefor me this year was baking and of course here I have my Laura Mercier Loose SettingPowder in translucent.
Again if you're an oily person and you have not triedthis, you need to try it.
I know it looks crazy but this just gives yourmakeup so much longevity.
It really again keeps the oil at bay, so I will go ahead andgrab my BeautyBlender.
This is the last time ofusing the BeautyBlender in my makeup application.
And I will dip it into the powder.
First I'll go underneath the eyes.
So I go in a nice littlearea underneath the eyes.
I'll go on the nose.
I'll go on the chin.
Forehead.
And then whatever is left, I will go on the sides of my cheeks, so I'm pretty much applyingit to all over my face but obviously there's higherconcentrations in certain areas that might be you know, more oily for you.
I'm obviously in the T-Zone but I'm also, I get oily on my cheeks.
So the issue with that obviously is that if you start gettingoily on your cheeks and you have blush and bronzer on there.
If you accidentally likescratch it or something, you know what I mean? It just completely comes off and you don't even notice or if you rub your face on accident, it'll just come off.
So, when I bake, it reallyminimizes that from happening.
I know some people might think that this is a wasteful thing to do.
But I feel like I'veonly gone through two, this is my second tubof this, in many months.
I honestly can't rememberwhen I bought the first one.
It really does last a long time and it's definitely worth it.
Before we move on to more face stuff, I'm gonna talk about brows and I have two items from Anastasia and I'm grouping this together as one because they really belong together to me.
So first, we have the Brow Wiz in Granite and we also have the BroWPowder Duo in Granite.
Once I figured out that this was my color, I have not wavered from these two products in a very long time.
I've bought a lot of these pencils.
I think that'd be my one complaint, is that I go through thesepretty quickly or quick, much quicker than this.
I don't think I've actuallyeven repurchased this at all because I used such little of the powder.
But this color's just perfect.
It is a cool toned.
It's not black.
It's a very cool brownand a dark brown at that.
I think the issue that I had in the past with a lot of brow productsis that they're all warm toned and obviously if you havecooler toned hair or dark hair, you want your eyebrows to match that.
So I would have like, you know, my dark hair and then my eyebrows wouldlook like a warm brown, so once I figured that granite was around.
Yeah I absolutely love it.
I love the formula of Brow Wiz.
It's not too soft and not too hard because I think some brow pencils, they come off like there'smelty like eye pencils or they're so difficult to come out that you're kinda like scrapingagainst your skin too much, so it's just the perfect, perfect formula and with my Brow Powder Duo, I will take this brush actually which is a Sigma Short Shader brush.
I used to always only use an angle brush and then one time I totallyjust lost my angle brush and this is what I hadaround and I used it and I haven't used an angle brush since I started using this on my eyebrows.
It's so easy to use whenyou get the color on there, it just distributes it supereasily and it's really fast.
It's much faster than the angle brush and then you can kind ofwipe off the excess off of the brush and reallyget into the middle area and thin it out so it'slighter than the outer area.
Eyebrows are a mystery.
The styles are constantly changing so, and who knows if I look back on my pictures two years from now and I'll be like oh my God, my eyebrows were terrible because I totally do thatabout my eyebrows in the past.
They were like way too extreme.
So it's like a ever-changing thing but for now I absolutelylove my Anastasia products and i love using this little guy too.
Moving back into the face.
My absolute favorite skinsetting powder was my Bobbi Brown Skin WeightlessPowder Foundation in Warm Natural 4.
5.
This is just the perfect finishing powder.
I will use it on top of everythingelse I talked about today or if I wanna do a really light day, I will just put a little bitof concealer under my eyes and then put this all over my face.
If you really thin itout, it's super sheer, but if you actually kind of use a brush and I'll use my Real Techniques.
Oh my gosh, this is really rubbed off, Buffing Brush and I cando a couple layers of this and it actually has somepretty nice coverage.
What I love about this product, is that your skin looks veryairbrushed after you use it.
I think it's so finely milled that it really just goesinto all of the little nooks and crannies of your skin.
I'm not currently wearing this today because my skin has gottenmuch lighter since it's winter.
I'm like not in the sun at all.
So this color currently is alittle bit too dark for me.
I'm using another one.
But this is definitelymy favorite of the year.
Favorite bronzer of the year goes to the Charlotte Tilbury FilmstartBrownze & Glow in Fair Medium.
Ergh, I think I've saidthis before in a video but I was so behind the timeswhen it comes to this product, like my sister and Jen,totally raving about it and I know a lot of people were as well.
In any case once I gotit I was like ohhh okay.
I get it.
I get it.
First of all.
Packaging.
Beautiful.
So high quality.
You just feel very luxuriouseven just holding it in your hand and the product itself.
It looks like I haven'tused that much of it and I totally have.
I use it like every singleday for the past few months.
The thing that I love aboutit is that it is so buildable.
I think a lot of times bronzers and sculpting powders can be quite scary and if you put too much orif you put like a dot of it, it also won't move around, so it's buildable but also itjust blends so beautifully.
It won't just leave likea dark mark on your face and it actually does havea bit of shimmer in there.
I thought it was the highlight color kind of transferring over into this one but it totally is actually in there.
It's subtle and very, very beautiful and in terms of this highlight colour, I think it's a really greathighlight colour as well.
I've used it a bunch, but I am in love with acouple other products, so I choose those ones over this one.
But you know what, I really should go back and using this one more because it really is a beautiful colour.
They're very complementary.
If you wanna do a Treat Yourself 2017.
This is definitely the one to go for.
By the way, if you wanna know what brush I've been using for the bronzer, it is the Marc Jacobs.
The Blush Brush.
Holy crap.
I really, really like this.
I've used a lot of thesedifferent angle brushes but this one has enough stiffness where it really can pack the product in.
I don't wanna say pack but it can really put the product in but it really does kind of blend and make everything very seamless.
This is my only Marc Jacobs brush and I'm definitelyinterested in getting more.
We are moving into the final countdown.
I have a combo blush highlight and this is the BeccaShimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Splits and this is the one withProsecco Pop and Amaretto.
This combo, man, I havebeen using this non stop.
First of all, this blush colour is such a beautiful, dusty rose, super buildable.
I'm not the kind of person to really like, BAM, like put a bunch of blush on.
Yeah a lot of blush is definitely daunting and it just really goeswith my skin colour and also really goes well with the Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer.
What I'll do is, I'll pick itup with this brush right here.
This is the Duo Fiber ContourBrush by Real Techniques.
I really like this one for blush.
I just kinda dip it in there and do soft little circleson the apples of my cheeks.
I try to get more from the side and not from the front, which is something that I've learned, so it kind of diffuses the colour with the bronzer into the cheek.
This is a very nice brush for blush.
That is a tongue twister.
It can get in there really nicely and just really diffuse the colour.
Going into the highlighter.
I thnk Becca is just, they are the masters of highlighter.
Right? Is everyone agreeing with me here? This is just like kind of, I would say, I don't think it's a rosegold, more like a coppery gold.
Definitely warm and I just really like to dust it on the tops of my cheeks a bit.
I'll even throw it underneath my brow bone and it just gives me a really nice glow.
I think sometimes I candefinitely go overboard with this, so with this one I will take the Real Techniques Contour Brush and just lightly dip it in and brush it on from the side.
Yeah.
If you put a littlebit too much of this though, you can definitely justsee a streak of highlight.
I was trying to be a bit more aware and distribute it better, but in any case it's beautiful.
This compact was so worth it for me.
We have these two beautiful colors that I pretty much use everyday.
Last item ya'll.
Here we have the Bite Beauty Lush FruitLip Gloss in Currant.
I think this is the productthat I've gone through the most.
I would say I've gone throughat least ten tubes of this through the year.
For sure.
When it comes to lip products, I get so lazy and also I enjoy the color of my own lips and this lip gloss reallycomplements my lip colour.
It is quite sheer but hasthat kind of mauvy tone to it.
Once the gloss aspect of it is gone, which takes a very, very long time by the way, your lipsare left so moisturized.
I think the issue witha lot of lip products which I don't like, is thatonce they kind of fade away, they start looking gunky and I don't wanna deal with that and also they really, really dry out your lips but this is honestly themost hydrating lip gloss I've ever used in my life.
I just can't rave enough about it.
I absolutely love this.
Also all the ingredients areI believe are FDA approved, so this is an actual edible lip gloss.
You put lip products on your lips and you don't really know what's in there and you're pretty much eating it and all the ingredients inthis lip gloss are a-okay to ingest into your bod.
If Bite Beauty ever got rid of this, I feel like I could replaceanything else in here, but for some reason it's this product that if they got rid of it,I'd be super, super sad.
Bite Beauty.
Please never everget rid of this lip gloss.
Holy crap, look at this crazy lens flare that's happening right now.
I'm closing out the videoanyways so it's all good.
Those were my 2016 beauty favorites.
I really hope you enjoyed this video and I hope it gave you, yeah, some ideas for products to try out.
I definitely love everysingle item on this list.

I love you all and Iwill see you in the next one.
